- He added that the ruling party has failed to fulfil even one of the promises it made to Nigerians
- Atiku further claimed that Nigeria will not survive another four years if the APC retains power in 2019
Former vice president and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has apologised for joining the groups who came together to form the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Punch reports that the PDP presidential candidate said the apology had become necessary because of the sufferings Nigerians had been subjected to in the last three and half years from a party he played a role in bringing to power.
Speaking on Thursday, November 22, in Yola, Adamawa state, during a town hall meeting with residents of Jimeta, Atiku reportedly described the APC as an assembly of ‘elements’ that came together to defraud the country.
He said the party had failed in changing the fortunes of Nigerians for good.
His words: “I regretted being a part of the party which never deemed it fit to fulfil all of the promises it made to Nigerians.
“If I had known that the APC would be such a colossal failure and disgrace, I would never have joined the party.
“The APC has failed to fulfil even one of the promises it made to Nigerians. The APC is simply an assembly meant to defraud Nigerians.”
The former vice-president further claimed that the country would not survive another four years if the APC was returned to power in 2019.

Meanwhile, Lauretta Onochie, the social media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, November 21, lambasted the PDP presidential candidate, saying that Nigerians cannot trust him.
Onochie expressing her dissatisfaction with Atiku’s campaign promises, opined that it’s disrespectful and insulting to Nigerians for a candidate or anyone to lie to them.
The presidential aide also urged Nigerians to have confidence in Buhari and Osinbajo who can never lie to them.
