Aguero, Silva inspire Man City to 3-1 win over Manchester United at the Etihad

- Pep Guardiola maintain their leadership at the summit of the EPl table after beating Man United 3-1

Manchester City continue their unbeaten run in the Premier League this season after beating city rivals Manchester United 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Captain David Silva opened scoring for the Citizens through a close range strike in the 12th minute after receiving a precise pass from Bernando Silva.

Despite taking the lead in the early minutes of the game, the hosts continued their attacking style of play as they search for their second.

But all their efforts were thwarted by the visitors as they avoided conceding another in the first stanza of the game.

Pep Guardiola's returned to the pitch for the second half with an early goal from Sergio Aguero after a one-two pass with Riyad Mahrez in the 48th minute.

The Argentine powered home a thunderous shot at the right side of the opponent's danger zone to double their lead earlier in the second stanza.

However, the visitors needed the intervention of Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku to win a spot kick as Anthony Martial stepped up to put the ball at the back of the net.

It was game on for the Red Devils who hoped for another come back after winning their last three matches in dramatic styles across competitions.

However, their efforts to level parity in the game saw them conceding their third of the night with Ilkay Gundogan neatly putting the ball behind De Gea with just four minutes to the end of the game.

At the end of the gam, City maintained their top spot with 32 points from 12 games - two points better than Liverpool who thrashed Fulham 2-0 earlier in the day.

Man United are now 12 points shy of the table toppers City as they sit eighth on the table with 20 points after the same number of matches.

Pep Guardiola's side are still unbeaten in the domestic scene as City ran away with a first half goal by Riyad Mahrez.

The Algerian reacted quickest to a Raheem Sterling's low cross after the Citizens capitalized on a defensive made by Toby Alderweireld after just six minutes.
