2019: Being married to Okorocha's daughter does not stop me from being governor - Nwosu

- A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Uche Nwosu, says being a son-in-law to Governor Rochas Okorocha does not stop him from becoming governor

- He says Governor Okorocha did not stop him from doing his job when he was commissioner of lands

- Nwosu says the issue of Okorocha trying to control Imo state does not arise, adding that people should not be sentimental

A governorship aspirant and chief of staff to Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state, Uche Nwosu, has said being a son-in-law to the governor does not stop him from succeeding the latter in office in 2019.

Premium Times reports that Nwosu stated this on Sunday, November 11, during his appearance on Channels TV Sunday Politics.

Legit.ng notes that Nwosu said: “The issue of Rochas Okorocha trying to control Imo state with his family does not arise. People should get down to Imo state. People should leave sentiments alone.

“My name is Ugwumba Uche Nwosu. I am from Nkwerre local government. Rochas is from Ideato local government. By virtue of God’s grace, I was able to get married to the governor’s daughter. Does that stop me as a man from running for governor of Imo state?

“I was commissioner of lands and now chief of staff. Did Rochas Okorocha stop me from doing my work? The urban renewal you see in Imo state today is out of my initiative.

“Who else from Owelle Rochas Okorocha’s family is a candidate of the House of Assembly, House of Representative or the Senate?”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the campaign organisation of a front-line aspirant and Governor Rochas Okorocha’s son-in-law, Chief Uche Nwosu, rejected the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) decision to settle for Senator Hope Uzodinma as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Imo state governorship election.

Reacting to the development, the director general, Nwosu Campaign Organisation, Chief Chidi Ibe, said members of the organisation would fight with the last drop of their blood to ensure that Nwosu was fielded to contest the governorship polls under the APC.

Ibe made the comment on Saturday, November 10, at the Owerri headquarters of the organisation, while addressing journalists.
