Just in: Confusion as APC postpones governorship primary election in Ogun

The governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) planned for Ogun state ahead of 2019, was on Sunday, September 30, 2018, postponed by the state chapter.

It was learnt that the state chapter of the APC did not give any reason for this decision.

Punch reports that the statement was issued by the state publicity secretary of the party, Chief Wole Elegbede, who earlier told members of his party to disregard the rumour making the rounds that the primary election would no longer hold.

The report said the second statement by Elegbede at exactly 1:53 pm did not state when the governorship primary would now hold.

The statement advised members to await further directives from the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

“This to inform all the APC party faithful in Ogun State that the governorship direct primary slated for today has been officially postponed.

“Further directives will be issued later pending clarification from National Working Committee,” the statement said.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state reportedly chose his chief of staff, Tolu Odebiyi, for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in the 2019 elections.
