- Gernot Says the early goal Super Eagles scored against Libya gave them the confidence
- But he added that his defenders must improve their games in the return leg in Tunis
- Super Eagles currently occupy second position in Group E with six points after three games
Super Eagles gaffer Gernot Rohr has made it clear that his players never had it perfect against Libya in their 2019 AFCON qualifier against Libya, but he believes they will improve.
Nigeria beat visiting Libya 4-0 in their third game in Group E for the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers in which Odion Ighalo netted a hat-trick.
But despite the victory, Gernot Rohr explained that hid wards had problem defensively in the first half and they must improve in the return leg match in Tunisia.
''This result does not mean we had a prefect game today, We had problems defensively especially in the first half and before we play Libya again in three days, we must improve on our weak areas.
''We won the game because we scored four goals. We worked hard for the win and scored more goals. It’s good for the team. We deserved the victory against a side that played well against South Africa. Everyone was impressed. The early goal gave us good confidence at the start of the game,''.
Meanwhile, Nigeria will face Libya in the return leg on Tuesday as they currently occupy second position in Group E with six points and one point behind leaders South Africa.
