We witnessed some outstanding European football this week and the trend continues this weekend as no fewer than 4 big games will be played. Legit.ng decided to profile the best out of the bunch.
Fans of club football endured a lengthy international break recently but have now been treated to a weekend of domestic action followed by some excellent European ties.
Here, we highlight 4 crunch games from 4 of Europe’s top Leagues.
Barcelona v Real Madrid
Where else to start but the El Classico. The highlight of the year for fans across the world.
Fans have come to expect expansive, cohesive interplay with incredible bits of skill.
This is to be expected when the 2 Spanish giants boast some of the best players around the world.
This year’s Classico offers something different. Neither of the 2 best players in the world will be featuring.
The last time this occurred was more than 10 years ago and this in itself brings an interesting dimension to the epic clash.
Madrid have their own demons to banish as they find themselves in a bit of a rut at the moment.
Barcelona has overhauled their midfield in recent times and will be looking to Philippe Coutinho and Arthur to add some spark from midfield.

Marseille v Paris St. Germain
PSG are currently flying in the domestic standings with 10 wins from 10 matches.
Their star-studded team has the potential to tear opposition defences apart with the skills and tricks of Neymar, the pace of Angel Di Maria, the power and technique of Edinson Cavani and the absurd talent that is Kylian Mbappe.
When you throw in Marseille’s dismal record in this fixture, only 1 winner seems likely.
However, PSG players have buckled when facing strong opponents as Liverpool and Napoli have proven.
Marseille could look to stifle their illustrious rivals and hope that one of their mercurial talents, such as Florian Thauvin or Dimitri Payet, poach one on the break.
Napoli v Roma
We nearly selected Manchester United v Everton for this one but the Italian clash just edges it.
The Serie A is hot again with Italian sides purchasing wisely in recent transfer windows. Not to mention, Juve’s stunning acquisition of the global icon, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are flying high after a crucial Champions League win over Liverpool and nearly bagging all 3 points away to PSG.
Based on form, Napoli should have the edge but if Roma repeat their exploits of last season, they could come away with the 3 points.
Indeed, it was the Romans who came out on top last season in Naples.

Tottenham Hotspurs vs Manchester City
Finally, we’ll be treated to a crunch clash in the English Premier League when these 2 sides face off.
It’s not quite a top of the table clash with City in pole position and Tottenham 4th.
However, only 2 points separate them so a Tottenham win would propel them to 1 more than City.
The form book is definitely in City’s favour as they’ve looked dominant for the most part this season.
Spurs have done enough to keep collecting the points but have looked unconvincing in some big fixtures – some poor results in the Champions League and were comprehensively outplayed by Liverpool.
