Corps member dies in his sleep 10 days after revelation of his death, 7 days after his 25th birthday

Deaths of corps members seems to be happening on a too regular basis lately and this trend is becoming worrisome and demands national attention.

A youth corps member undertaking the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Usang Benedict Williams in Ebonyi state has been reported dead.

The graduate of accounting from the Cross River State University of Technology (CRUTECH), Ogoja, reportedly died in his sleep on Saturday, September 29.

He died just seven days after his 25th birthday and exactly 10 days after a friend and his younger brother dreamt that he died. They reportedly asked him to pray. And he also made a declaration of faith that he will not die young but live to see his children’s children.

Williams was deeply involved in politics in his lifetime. He was a grassroots mobiliser for the All Progressive Congress in Cross River state.

NAIJ.com had reported earlier that a newly released photo shows National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who drown while on a picnic at a river in Mayo-Sebri village in Gashaka local government council of Taraba state taking a selfie at the waterfall just before drowning.

The 23 corps member had gone on a fun loving picnic on that fateful day of August 4, before nine of them lost their lives in the river upsurge. One of the 14 survivors, a male corps member, who was lucky to be alive to tell the story narrated how the tragedy happened and his survival.
