BREAKING: Kaduna government imposes 24-hour curfew after communal crisis claimed 55 lives

The Kaduna state government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Kaduna town and environs, with immediate effect.

A short statement released by the media office of Governor Nasir El-Rufai stated that thedecision was taken in the best interest of the state.

The statement was published on the social media pages of El-Rufai and the state government.

According to the statement, the 24-hour curfew imposed on Kaduna town and environs was with immediate effect.

The government advised residents to comply with the directive as it has been taken in the best interest of the state.

The government earlier imposed a 24-hour curfew on the Kasuwan Magani community in Kajuru local government area of the state after crisis broke out in the area.

The bloody riot had claimed the lives of 55 people on Thursday, October 18, according to the Nigeria police.

Governor El-Rufai also promised that the perpetrators and sponsors of the crime would be made to face justice when he visited the area.

“We must live in peace and never use violence to solve a problem. We are not happy with this and government will pursue and punish those responsible for this devilish act,” the governor said.
