- There has been tension among members of the ruling APC in Taraba state
- The APC faithful decried the ousting of Abdulmumini Vaki who emerged chairman in the state with Ibrahim El-Shudi
- APC faithfuls in Taraba said Oshiomhole's swearing in of El-Shudi against Vaki would bring more confusion in the party in the state
On Monday, September 10, the national chairman of the All progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, swore in the new state chairman, Ibrahim El-Shudi, and other members of the executive of the party.
The swearing, Daily Trust reports brewed mixed reactions among party faithfuls as El-Shudi replaced Abdulmumini Vaki, who emerged chairman of the party in June, with active support of the minister of women affairs, Aisha Jummai Alhassan, popular known as Mama Taraba.
A member of the Taraba APC and a close associate to Mama Taraba, Garba Dauda, said the action of the national secretariat of the APC would bring more confusion in the party in Taraba.

According to Dauda, it was wrong to swear in another person as chairman while someone else who was duly elected was occupying the same position.
However in his reaction, Aaron Artimas, the new public relations officer of the party, who was sworn in alongside the new executive members, said they had the support of over 80% of the party members on the matter.
Artimas said the new executive members has about 13 to 14 governorship aspirants as well as key stakeholders of Taraba politics while the former exco led by Vaki controlled only about 20 per cent of membership.

“Politics is a game of number and the new exco has the support of majority. There was celebration by members of APC in Jalingo and in all the local government areas of the state,” Aaron said.
It was gathered that Mama Taraba had single highhandedly sponsored activities of the party in the state.
She however lost favour among party members following her alignment with a former vice president and presidential aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar.
Sources in the APC said Mama Taraba's alignment with Atiku had made leaders of the party at the national level to be suspicious about her movements.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Oshiomhole had expressed confidence that the ruling party will do well in Taraba state during the 2019 general elections.
Oshiomhole also charged the El-Sudi-led harmonised Taraba executive to ensure participation of members and stakeholders, to ensure the party’s success at the forthcoming election.
He said the party will provide better leadership in the state if elected, compared to the incumbent Governor Darius Ishaku who he said has administered the state in absentia.
