Messi, Suarez net brace each as Barcelona secure massive win against SD Huesca at Camp Nou

- Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez netted a brace each as Barcelona defeated Huesca 8-2

- Huesca scored twice in the first half to keep scores at 3-2 going into the break

- Barcelona ran riot in the second to claim an emphatic victory

Barcelona play-maker Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez were among the goals as the La Liga defending champions defeated Huesca 8-2 on Sunday, September 2, 2018.

The encounter which is the final La Liga clash before the two-week international break saw Barcelona concede an early goal on the second minute after a cross into the box found Longo who easily dispatched a free header that was deflected by Cucho Hernández into the net for the first goal of the contest.

Barcelona restarted the game and tried getting back on level terms but Huesca held on momentarily.

However on the quarter hour Barca began their possession game and after a nice sequence of passes, the ball found Lionel Messi who took on the entire Huesca defence with a simple dribble that also saw the Argentine star swiftly move past Luisinho before unleashing a rocket of a shot with his right foot to beat the goalie.

Eight minutes later Barcelona were handed the lead. Jordi Alba found himself alone in the vital area in the opposition end after a fantastic through ball by Ousmane Dembélé and attempted to pick out Messi in the six-yard area, but Pulido in an effort to clear the danger ended up sending the ball in his own net for Barcelona to lead 2-1.

At this point, the advantage swayed in Barca’s favour as they controlled the proceedings, and 15 minutes after the second goal, the third arrived.

Alba received another amazing pass from Philippe Coutinho and quickly set up Luis Suárez for an easy tap-in to lead 3-1 on the night.

However, three minutes after scoring, Barcelona conceded again on the 42nd minute off a cross from the right wing that is not dealt after Moi Gómez knocked it down for Álex Gallar to net Huesca’s second of the game just before halftime.

At the end of the first stanza, Barcelona were fantastic going forward, but they conceded twice in Huesca’s only two chances of the game to keep scores at 3-2.

The second half totally belong to the home side are they kept scoring goals and goals without further response from Huesca.

Dembele made it 4-2 after 48 minutes, on the 52nd Ivan Rakitic further increased the tally to 5-2 while Messi got his second of the game on the 61st minute to take the game beyond the reach of their opponents with scores at 6-2.

However, that was not the end of the goals as Alba and Suarez still had time to score Barcelona's seventh and eighth goals that saw the defending champions claim at emphatic 7 - 2 victory at the Nou Camp.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that Barcelona's fierce rivals Real Madrid claimed a 4-1 win as Belgium World Cup star Thibaut Courtois made his official debut for the Los Blancos.

Karim Benzema's second half brace secured an emphatic victory against Leganes on Saturday, September 1, 2018..

The La Liga encounter at the Santiago Benearbu stadium saw the Real Madrid lead 4-1 after 66th minute of football with Karim Benzema (2), Gareth Bale and Ramos on the scoresheet for the home side.

Los Blancos took an early lead when Gareth Bale netted the opener in the 17th minute of the contest.
