The office of the youth organising secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, on Saturday, September 2, pleaded with Nigerians and residents of the state against acts that could heat up the polity.
Aregbe Idris, the head of the office, also pleaded with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to extend the deadline for the voters registration exercise so that many citizens would be able to take part in the 2019 general elections.

Idris, who is also the convener of Our Lagos, Your Lagos initiative, expressed excitement at the way Nigerians are now showing interest in the country’s politicw by ensuring the collection of their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) ahead of the 2019.
“We also acknowledge the brilliant measures adopted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in staging a hitch-free registration process for eligible voters.
“However, we appeal to its principals to extend the registration process/period in order to accommodate and give opportunity to the teeming numbers of Nigerian citizens looking to exercise their franchise.
“As we look forward to a peaceful, free and fair elections, our desire is to ensure that we play active role by voting in capable and intellectually proven representatives that would propel the socio-economic wheel of our great state and dear nation to promising heights.

“We urge all and sundry to keep the belief of an effective electoral system alive by coming out en-masse to exercise their franchise in order to hold in high-hopes the dreams of a better Nigeria,” Idris said in a statement released to journalists.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that emerging reports claimed that states chairmen of the APC on Sunday, September 2, stormed Abuja over the confusion that trailed the NEC decision on mode of primaries to be adopted for the party’s primaries ahead of the 2019 elections.
