Aliyu Haidar Abubakar, the son of first female president of the Appeal Court, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa has joined the Gombe governorship race ahead of the 2019 general elections.
NAIJ.com gathered that Abubakar, who is running on the platform of the APC, submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms at the APC national secretariat on Saturday, September 15.
Addressing journalists at the APC secretariat, Abubakar said his youthful age and fresh leadership ideas stands him out among other contestants.

He lamented that level of governance in Gombe state presently is “tragic and appalling.”
His words: “My aspiration and fervent dream to pilot the affairs of the state and take it to the promised land is altruistic and noble.
“This is the time to change the Gombe narrative for good. It’s time the state takes its rightful position in the comity of states across the federation.
“It is sad that we are still at a crossroads, while sister states have become model for accelerated growth and progress in all facets of human endeavours.
“A new dawn awaits Gombe if I am elected next year. I will definitely raise the bar of exemplary, accountable and service leadership.”

Meanwhile, a retired Deputy Controller General of Custom, Prince Ibrahim Mera, has joined the race for the Kebbi state governorship election in 2019.
The APC aspirant announced that he decided to enter politics to answer the clarion call of his supporters, who he said have beckoned on him to contest for the number one seat in the state.
