- He said since the party didn't stop him from buying nomination form, it can't prevent him from participating in the primaries
Former governor of Plateau state and presidential aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jonah Jang, has said his party cannot ask him to step down for some other presidential aspirants.
Jang made the statement after an announcement by the PDP Board of Trustees (BOT) of the party's decision to reduce the number of its presidential aspirants.
The senator representing Plateau North Senatorial District, announced his decision not to budge while speaking with journalists on Monday, September 10, at his residence in Maitama, Abuja before leaving for the PDP National Secretariat to submit his presidential nomination forms.

He said: “If I am to step down, why would I be aspiring in the first place? I am here to run for the presidency and become the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
“Who do you want me to step down for? My party cannot ask me to step down because they sold that form to me.
“I am not aware of any committee set up to streamline the number of presidential aspirants on the platform of PDP.
“I am not asking anybody to take the senatorial ticket for me in case I lose primary. I am coming into the presidential race with the hope of winning and not failing. It is a clarion call and I have answered it.”
On his plans to fight corruption if elected as president, Jang, who is currently facing fraud charges said Nigeria;s economy will suffer from President Muhammadu Buhari's style of fighting corruption.
He said: “The way we are fighting corruption is discouraging people from investing into the economy of Nigeria. You start a business they send EFCC to investigate how you got the money.
“Of course, the economy of a country can’t be developed without fighting corruption but I would do that in a different way. I would structure them to the international standard.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com earlier reported that ahead of 2019 general elections and in bid not to lose out totally in the scheme of things, three presidential aspirants on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reportedly used allies to purchase Senate and governorship forms.
The three aspirants include two serving senators and an incumbent governor.
Twelve aspirants have already picked the PDP presidential nomination and expression of interest forms.
