We didn't resign of our own accord - Tambuwal's aides allege, denounce claims

- Aides to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto have alleged that they were actually sacked by the state government

- The special assistants were reacting to news published on Sunday, August 19, that they resigned their appointments of their own accord

- According to the appointees, the governor made the move in order to revive the state government's operations and services

Contrary to the news that two hundred and fifty-two special advisers and special assistants resigned their appointments under Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s administration, the former employees have said that they were actually sacked and did not leave of their own accord.

In a statement issued on Sunday, August 19, and made available to NAIJ.com, the aides said: "We write to inform the public that contrary to a statement credited to us that we resigned from the services of the Sokoto State government, all appointees were actually relieved of their appointments by His Excellency Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, in his effort to reinvigorate government operations and services .

"The decision was officially communicated by the Director General, Media & Public Affairs to the Governor Malam Abu Shekara.

"We have accepted the decision in good faith and expressed our sincere gratitude and appreciation to His Excellency for giving us the opportunity to serve our dear state in different capacities. We also look forward to future opportunities to serve. We hereby signed on behalf of 200 others."

The statement was signed by Umar Bature former special adviser, Mustafa Shehu, former special senior adviser on media, Maiakwai Abubakar, former special senior advisor, Dr Aliyu Inname, the former senior adviser contributory health scheme, and Bashir Gidado, special adviser PPP.

Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported that two hundred and fifty-two aides appointed under Governor Aminu Tambuwal’s administration had resigned their positions.

The aides comprising of special advisers and special assistants said their resignations were prompted by the recent decision of the Sokoto state governor to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party which they owe their loyalty.

The former appointees said they would be unable to function in their respective positions under Tambuwal’s administration because of their determination to remain members of APC.
