Senator Omo-Agege reacts to herdsmen attack on Urhobo communities

- Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has condemened the attacks by suspected herdsmen in his constituency

- Omo-Agege said the attacks on people of Urhobo descent by herdsmen is becoming alarming

- He called on the police to fish out perpetrators of the attacks

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, representing Delta central senatorial district in the National Assembly, has on Thursday, August 2, condemned the increasing attack by herdsmen on harmless people of Urhobo communities in his constituency.

Omo-Agege made the statement while condemning the attacks on one of his constituents, Abraham Onokpasa, said the incessant attacks by herdsmen on Urhobos is becoming alarming.

The senator called on the police for fish out the suspected herdsmen who attacked Onokpasa.

Vanguard reports that Omo-Agege lamented that his constituents who are going about their legitimate business were being attacked by the ravaging herdsmen.

He said: “I condemn in the strongest possible terms the increasing attack of my constituents and the destruction their property.

“The recent invasion of the compound of late Benedict Etedjere Onokpasa by herdsmen is very painful and regrettable

“This is one attack to many, I condemn this unprovoked attack on Onokpasa’s and I want to task the police authority to bring the perpetrators to book by ensuring that they are make to face the full wight of the law.

“I wish to also add that my constituents will not tolerate any attempts to treat this particular case with kid gloves."

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com earlier reported that Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state on Wednesday, August 1, raised the alarm over planned invasion of part of the state by herdsmen with over 10,000 cattle as part of a grand plan to further destabilise the state.

The governor said reports reaching him from the Guma Council boss, Anthony Shawon, said that the herdsmen had already taken over part of the area and were grazing freely.
