The Oyo state government wants residents to go collect their PVCs on Friday, August 31
- The government says the decision is to enable the residents meet the INEC deadline for the collection of the PVCs
- The government also makes it mandatory for all civil servants to register
As the deadline for the continued voters registration exercise draw near, the government of Oyo state has declared Friday, August 31, public holiday to enable civil servants and other residents obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC).
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Olalekan Alli, announced this in statement issued on Thursday, August 30, in Ibadan.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Alli said the the work-free-day is to also enable workers that are yet to register to do so.
“The governor has made it mandatory for all public and civil servants in the state to duly register and obtain their PVCs before the closing date for the CVR.
“Consequently, he has directed that Friday, August 31, be observed as work-free day in all government offices across the state,” he said.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced August 31, as closing date for the exercise until after the 2019 general elections.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state declared Thursday, August 30, as work-free day to enable public servants participate in the continuous voter registration exercise in the state.
Akeredolu, according to a statement on Wednesday, August 29, by the state commissioner for Information, Yemi Olowolabi, in Akure, made the declaration following a resolution of the state executive council.
