An indigene of Biu, Borno state, Israel Zakari, got the highest score of 364 in the 2018 Unified Matriculation Examination.
Punch reports that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) made this disclosure on Sunday, August 5. The board said the candidate sat for the examination in Ogun state.
NAIJ.com gathers that Zakari beat Adekunle Jesufemi from Ogun state, who got the second position with 358 score and Alikah Oseghale, who got the third position with 357 score.
An indigene of Ogun state who wrote the examination in Lagos, Ademola Adetola, came fourth with 355.

Three candidates identified as Akinyemi Paul (Ogun), Terhemba Moses (Benue) and Obi-Obuoha Abiamamela (Rivers), shared the fifth position by scoring 354.
The results were confirmed on Sunday, August 5 by JAMB head of public affairs, Dr Fabian Benjami. He urged individual and organisations interested in using the UTME data for research and national statistics to seek accurate information from the agency and avoid misleading sources.
Benjamin said: “This release of candidates’ scores is imperative to ensure that the public is not misled by unverified reports.
“Israel Galadima from Borno state came first with 364 score while Adekunle Jesufemi from Ogun state scored 358; the third position is Alikah Oseghale from Edo state, who sat for the examination in Ekpoma and scored 357. This is to put the records in perspective.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), on Thursday, March 15, blasted parents encouraging their children to cheat in examinations, saying such parents should seek God’s forgiveness.
The registrar made the remarks at the board’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, when a suspected impersonator arrested by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps was paraded for attempting to write the UTME for his brother.
