After regaining freedom from the hands of unknown abductors, Pa Michael Obi who is the father of the Super Eagles captain Mikel has explained the pains he went through the day he was kidnapped.
The 74-year-old also stated clearly to the Daily Trust Newspaper that his relationship with his star son has gone sour stressing that Mikel has not spoken to him for the past five years.
He added that the kidnappers thought Mikel used to give him N50 million every week, but he claimed he told the abductors that he only had N2 million in his account.
Pa Michael Obi also explained that Mikel communicates regularly with his mother, but not with him his father.
“My relationship with Mikel is an issue, but we don’t know what to do. It’s over five years now without a phone call from him to me. But he communicates with his mother.
“There is nothing I have not done to fix it. God has told me that I should not feel hurt. When we start to talk about it, I say well, as long as I see him on TV doing great, no problem.
“During the just-concluded World Cup, one or two days to one of their matches, we spoke. He called his mum, and she told me that Nchekwube (Mikel) was on the phone and I told him that God will see him through. I prayed for him. That’s it.
“Sometime last year, he was to bring his twins so that I could name them, he said he would. But he didn’t. His other colleagues frequently come home, so I don’t understand,'' Pa Michael Obi explained.

Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how John Obi Mikel revealed that he played for Nigeria against Argentina at the Russia 2018 World Cup with the information of his dad being kidnapped and held for ransom.
But the former Chelsea star added that he could not tell anyone because the abductors warned him that his father would be killed immediately authorities know about the incident.
Mikel stressed that he was in a devastating mood when the kidnappers called him four hours into the Group D tie between Nigeria and Argentina which the Super Eagles lost 1-2.
