Leicester reject £12m offer for Super Eagles star Ahmed Musa

- Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr have tabled a £12m bid for Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa but was rejected

- The Foxes are eager to discuss a potential move away with any suitor who can match the fee they paid in 2016 for the Nigerian

- Musa enjoyed a loan spell at former club CSKA Moscow in January scoring six goals in ten matches

Premier League side Leicester City have rejected a £12 million bid for Super Eagles World Cup star Ahmed Musa, reports suggest.

According to a UK Sun report citing sources at Daily Mail, the offer arrived from Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr, but eggheads at the Premier League side are eager to recover £16.6m they splashed on the 25-year-old two seasons ago.

The Nigeria international has failed to reenact his form at CSKA Moscow since switching to the English topflight, scoring two goals in 21 matches for the Foxes.

The former Kano Pillars speed ace enjoyed a loan spell at Russian club in January scoring six goals in ten matches for the Moscow outfit last campaign.

However, Leicester are ready to sell the forward after a decent performance at the just concluded World Cup campaign in Russia with Nigeria’s Super Eagles, if any potential suitor meet their expectation for Musa.

Nigeria failed to progress to the last 16 rounds from Group D despite Musa’s brace against Iceland.

The Nigerian is likely to play elsewhere in the new campaign alongside fellow African Algeria’s Islam Slimani, who is linked with a loan switch to ex-club Sporting Lisbon.

The 30-year-old Algeria international has also struggled to find form at the Premier League, having completed a move to the King Power Stadium following the Foxes Premier League victory in 2016.

However, Slimani is expected to move to Portugal on loan after a similar adventure at Newcastle last season.

On the other hand, the Foxes expect Musa to be sold permanently and should the pair leave, Leicester City would have seen the exit of five players this summer, including Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez £60m switch to Manchester City.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously had reported that world’s football governing body FIFA has shortlisted Nigeria’s Ahmed Musa’s second strike against Iceland for the Goal of the Tournament Award.

A total of 18 goals were singled out for the top prize out of the 169 goals scored at the global football fiesta.

However, Musa’s second strike during Nigeria’s second Group D fixture against Iceland alongside 17 others goals that include Cristiano Ronaldo’s third goal against Spain’s La Roja as well as Lionel Messi’s goal against Nigeria have been penciled down to undergo a voting process.
