Spanish striker claims Zidane was sacked from Real Madrid (video)

- Diego Costa says Zinedine Zidane did not resign in Real Madrid but was fired

- Lopetegui's squad will play with Portugal, Iran and Morrocco at the World Cup

Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa has thrown shades at departed Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane claiming the French manager was sacked.

The three-time Champions League winning coach shocked the world on May, 30, as he announced his resignation as manager of Los Blancos.

But the Spanish striker has another view to the shocking news saying the former World Player of the Year was fired by Madrid's management.

"Well, that's very unlucky, Zidane just won the Champions League and he got fired. He shouldn't have won," he told ESPN.

Spain are currently in camp for the World Cup as Costa made Julen Lopetegui's final 23-man squad after having a torrid season with Chelsea.

Costa could spear-head the attack in the group that involves Portugal, Iran and Morocco as they will aiming to clinch their second World Cup trophy after their historic 2010 win.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had earlier reported that Chelsea duo, Cesc Fabregas and Alvaro Morata were dropped from the final 23-man squad.

Fabregas was part of the stars that won the World Cup with Spain at South Africa 2010 while Morata made his tournament debut at the Euro 2016 championships.
