Important Brazil superstar dumps Bayern Munich for Juventus in a multi-million pounds deal

- Juventus have completed the signing of Douglas Costa from Bayern Munich this summer

- The Brazil international spent last season on loan at the Italian club after suffering limited playing time at his German club side

- He joined the Italian Serie A champions in a deal valued around €40 million

Italian Serie A giants Juventus have confirmed the signing of Bayern Munich attacker Douglas Costa on a permanent deal this summer.

The Brazilian forward spent last season on loan with the Old Lady, and he has sealed a deal valued at €40 million (£35m/$47m) to join the Turin club.

Costa, who wasn’t getting enough playing time at his former club made 47 appearances for Italian club side in all competitions last term and helped them secure their seventh straight Serie A title.

He was instrumental to their Coppa Italia triumph while also playing a key role in their trip to the Champions League semi-finals.

The impressive performance in his first season at the club despite being on a loan move earned him a permanent deal with the champions.

"Juventus have exercised the option right for the permanent purchase of the player Douglas Costa from Bayern Munchen for a fee of €40m to be paid in two financial years," Juventus revealed on Thursday in a statement.

"The consideration may increase €1m upon the fulfilment of certain conditions over the course of the duration of his contract".

Costa is currently preparing with the Brazil national team ahead of this month's World Cup.

The Selecao finalise preparations for the finals with a friendly against Austria scheduled for June 10, before opening their campaign against Switzerland a week later in Rostov.

NAIJ.com previously repeated that Manchester United are ready to pay the £79 million required to land Douglas Costa should Juventus fail to take up the option to to sign him.

Costa, 27, joined on loan from Bayern Munich last summer and has been one of the Serie A champions' stand-out players this season.

Juve paid £7m up front and have an agreement in place to sign him for a further £33m — which they are still expected to take up.
