Check out the Nigerian time, venue for Real Madrid vs Manchester United big match

Last season, Premier League giants Manchester United and Spanish side Real Madrid won two titles each in what was believed by football fans all over the world to be a remarkable season for these two clubs.

Manchester United won the EPL Cup and were also champions of the Europa League title during their campaign last season.

Interestingly, it was Jose Mourinho's first term in charge of Manchester United and he made the Red Devils' fans happy at the end of the season.

Real Madrid on the other hand won the Spanish La Liga title and also the Champions League trophy, and one will agree that calling these two teams the most successful sides last season won't be too much.

After the end of last season, Manchester United and Real Madrid met in the International Champions Cup clash on July 23, 2017.

The match was played at the Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, California, in which Manchester United won 2-1 on penalties.

The game which was 10 pm in California and 6 am in Nigeria, saw fans of both clubs in Nigeria wake as early as 5am to watch their teams in action.

Many football viewing centers in Nigeria also opened their shops as early as possible for fans who do not have means of watching the encounter at home.

And as expected the game lived up to its billing and there was no winner in regulation time as it ended 1-1. However, Manchester United went on to win 2-1 on penalties.

United fans were sent to cloud nine when Englishman Jesse Lingard scored the opener in the 45th minute, but Casemiro restored parity for Real Madrid in the 69th minute via a penalty.

But Casemiro who scored from the spot in the second half to cancel out Jesse Lingard's opener missed the crucial penalty after De Gea kept out efforts from Mateo Kovacic and Oscar Rodriguez.

Only three of the 10 spot-kicks taken in the shootout were successful, with Daley Blind and Henrikh Mkhitaryan the scorers for Jose Mourinho's side as United won the championship.

Meanwhile, unlike last season, it has not been rosy this term for both Manchester United and Real Madrid as they are now struggling to win a title this season.

Manchester United's only hope of winning a title this season will be in the final of the FA Cup on May 19, when they will face bitter rivals Chelsea at Wembley.

Real Madrid on the other hand have lost their La Liga title to Barcelona who have been crowned the new Spanish champions for the 2017/18 season.

Their only hope of winning a title this term will now be in the Champions League final where they will meet Premier League giants Liverpool on May 26 in Ukraine.
