Anger over Katsina APC ward congress as 11 LGAs release petition to appeal committee

- The aggrieved members of the APC say the ward congresses was a jamboree and a travesty of justice and fairness

- The party stakeholders petitioned the APC wards and local government appeals committee

- They also accused the secretary to the government of Katsina state, Mustapha Inuwa

Some aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Katsina South senatorial district have reportedly described the recently held ward congresses conducted as a jamboree and a travesty of justice and fairness.

The stakeholders, according to Leadership, have also petitioned the APC wards and local government appeals committee over the complaints.

The report said the aggrieved members cut across all the 11 local government areas of the zone also accused the committee responsible for the conduct of congresses of flagrant violation of the constitution, the electoral act and the laws of the APC.

Usman Umar Buhari, who signed a statement on behalf of the petitioners, claimed a failure of the committee to appoint three persons per ward, and three persons per local government area to serve as Local Organizing Committee (LOC) as stipulated by the constitutions of the country and the party.

According to him, this was a deliberate violation.

The aggrieved members also described the handing over of election materials to secretary to the government of Katsina state, Mustapha Inuwa, as an attempt to enforce a pre-determined outcome by shutting out some eligible contestants and alien to the APC guidelines.

“In a petition signed by all the aggrieved contestants and presented to the APC wards and local government appeals committee, they called for the declaration of the purported congress held on 5th May 8, 2018 as null and void and a conduct of a fresh congress in line with constitutional prescriptions,” the report said.
