The Nigerian army has arrested one of the bandits involved in an armed attack in Suntai Local Government Area of Taraba state.
This was contained in a statement issued by Brigadier General Texan Chukwuon Wednesday, April 18.

It was reported that the troops on Exercise Cat Race where on patrol when they encountered the armed bandits.

Troops of 101 Special Forces Battalion deployed in Exercise AYEM AKPATUMA on 18 April 2018 while on patrol to Zamban village in Suntai Local Government Area of Taraba state successfully repelled an attack by armed Fulani bandits.
One of the bandits was captured during the encounter.
Items recovered include:
a. One AK 47 Rifle.
b. One Pump Action Rifle.
c. Three Dane Guns
d. One Round of 7.62mm Special.
e.36 Cartridges.
f. Three Cutlasses.
g. One Jack Knife.
h. One Mobile Phone among others.
4. The captured bandit is presently under going interrogation.
The public is once again reminded to report any suspicious movements in their areas to the security agency for prompt action.

Meanwhile, following the widespread criticism that followed President Buhari's statement about the influx of trained fighters from Libya posing as herdsmen to the Archbishop of Canterbury, His Grace Justin Welby in London, presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina has blasted some Nigerians for their misinterpretation of the statement.
Adesina who described Nigerians who misinterpreted the statement as intellectually lazy argued that a simple investigation would have shown that the death of Muammar Gaddafi of Libya was responsible for the proliferation of small arms all over Africa.
