Acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has vowed to recover the missing National Intelligence Agency (NIA)'s $202million security intervention fund.
The acting EFCC head said this on Wednesday, February 28, when he met with members of the House of Representatives’ committee on public safety, national security and intelligence.
The meeting which is geared towards recovering the said sum which formed the total of the $289 million fund approved for the agency by the Jonathan administration, Independent reports.

NAIJ.com recalls that following a tip-off from a whistle blower, $43 million was discovered by EFCC operatives from an Ikoyi Apartment, Lagos state in 2017.
Speaking to journalists, Magu said: “As you can see, everybody is supporting us and we need the support of everybody to succeed.
“As far as this investigation is concerned, we are very much on course and very soon we shall recover it,” Magu told House of Reps correspondents.
Speaking on the challenges facing the commission in the process of its investigation, Magu said: “No problem. Whether challenges or no challenges, we are unrelenting. You don’t expect the investigation to go on smoothly.”
Magu who also spoke on attempts to stall the war on corruption using various court injunctions, said:
“I said we are unrelenting. Everyday you wake up and face all manners of adversaries but what we need is the support of all Nigerians in the fight against corruption.”
Also speaking at the event, Aminu Sani Jaji, chairman of the committee confirmed that the $202 million is yet to be recovered.
“Even the acting chairman of EFCC said the same that the issue of the $202 million or whatever remains is still unaccounted for.
“And I know he remains committed and resolute to see that they recover the $202 million or whatever, and as a committee, we are doing our best to uncover the truth.
“As I said earlier, his appearance today is a head way for us. By next week, the committee will come up with all other outstanding information for the committee to round up its investigation.
“It’s an investigative motion and then we are trying to do justice to all the people involved. That’s why we decided to invite the acting chairman of EFCC and then the chairman was able to give us brief about what is going on.”
“With the information he gave us, we have made headway. By next week, we are going to conclude our investigation and the report will be ready for it to be presented to the House,” Jaji said.
Going further, he said the committee will not hesitate to invite or re-invite anybody critical to the ongoing investigation.
“We invited three former director generals of NIA both acting and substantive who appeared before us.
“If there’s any issue we need to clarify before we submit our report, we will not hesitate to invite them,” Jaji added.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the executive governor of Ekiti state Ayodele Fayose challenged the Buhari-led federal government to publish all the properties it claimed it had recovered and their owners as well as buyers of the properties when they are eventually sold.
The governor who made this call in a statement, on Wednesday, February 22, said Nigerians were “no longer interested in being governed with propaganda.”
