Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation, has stated that in 2019, there would be a rotation of power in Rivers state.
The minister made his comments while speaking at a defection ceremony for members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday August 31.

NAIJ.com gathers that Amaechi disclosed that he has been vilified for his position.
He stated: “I have been crucified, misunderstood, accused of being disrespectful and blunt because of my position on rotation in Rivers but I sincerely stand on it; power must rotate in this state.
“I am an Ikwerre man, we held power for eight years and by default another Ikwerre man is in the government house.
“It is important that in a multi-ethnic and plural state like Rivers, power must be seen to rotate to maintain equity and fairness; this is why people want to crucify me.”
Speaking to the defectors, the minister urged them to work hand-in-hand with the ruling party and ensure that a government which would be fair and just is elected in 2019.
He stated: “We are Rivers people, we all own this state; it’s not anybody’s private property.
“Be assured that you all have stakes in this party, and so the welfare of all citizens of Rivers is our responsibility.
“We want a state where the federal allocations are properly utilized to the benefit of the people.”
He stated that the APC would continue to encourage the Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike to act right.
In his words: "Nobody is an island of knowledge; we must make him learn from good Nigerians, emulate other people and bring the dividends of democracy to the state.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Rotimi Amaechi, the minister of transportation, on Friday, May 26, rejected an award which was to be given to him by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state.
According to Amaechi, Wike’s plan to honour him was “a poisoned chalice".
In a statement from his media office, Amaechi made it clear that he would not be part of the programme put together by the governor, who succeeded him in 2015.
