- Bolaji Abdullahi, the APC National Publicity Secretary, dismissed threats made against the ruling party by the opposition PDP party, at their Non-elective National Convention
- Abdullahi stated that Nigerians would rather reject the PDP in 2019, because the opposition party had no plans to restructure the country
- According to Abdullahi, the issue of restructuring was the most critical issue for Nigerians at the moment, and it was not in the plans of the opposition party
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has mocked the opposition party, stating that it was unbothered by the prediction of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) that Nigerians would reject its candidates in the 2019 general elections.
According to reports, the APC gave its reaction through Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary.

At the PDP Non-elective National Convention which held over the weekend, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, the party’s National Caretaker Committee Chairman, had stated that the opposition party was praying that President Muhammadu Buhari would recover fully before 2019, so he would be able to witness his removal from office.
However in response, Abdullahi dismissed Makarfi’s threats as he stated defiantly, that it was the opposition party that would be rejected by Nigerians in 2019.
He further disclosed that the PDP does not believe in restructuring the nation, which is the most critical issue at the moment.
In his words: “Restructuring is the main issue for Nigerians right now.
“Nigerians have concluded that the status quo is not working for them and they want some structural changes that would enhance effective governance.
“But the PDP has shown it does not believe in restructuring. It is not in their manifesto.
“The PDP never believed in restructuring; for that alone Nigerians won’t vote for them come 2019.
“They held two National Conferences and it was never in their plans. It is not in their manifesto and it cannot be in their plans towards 2019.
“Nigerians want a country that will work for them and they know the PDP cannot provide the kind of government that would deliver.
“APC remains the party to beat by a wide margin in 2019.”
