Your first step in taking an IELTS exam is to register on the official British Council website. If you don’t know how to find it, then click on this link Brisith Council. Please, do not register on any other website that claims to be the British Council or its partner. They are not associated in any form with the British Council. Moreover, they can be just fraudsters who want to steal your money.

According to the official website of the British Council – you will need to pay N 68, 000 for the test. How to transfer money to the British council? When you register on the official website, you will get the instructions on how to do that! Take a look at the British Council partner banks:

- First Bank;

- Guaranty Trust Bank;

- Zenith Bank.

How to transfer the money through these banks? You just need to fill in the code of the city, plus two digits of your exam`s month and the two last digits of your International Passport!

- Port Harcourt – 995302;

- Lagos – 995202;

- Ibadan – 995202;

When you are transferring the money to the British Council IELTS exam, the above-mentioned digits should be the first 6 digits of your transfer code. The other two digits should be the number of your IELTS exam`s month. Take a look at the digits for every month:

- March – 12;

- February - 11;

- January – 10;

- December – 09;

- November – 08;

- October – 07;

- September – 06;

- August – 05;

- July – 04;

- June – 03;

- May – 02;

- April – 01.

Therefore, you should get ten digits in total! The first six should go for the transfer bank, second two numbers should be the month of the exam, and the last two digits are from your International passport. For instance, I`m George Ibenegbu, and my last digits from my international passport number are 23. I want to take an IELTS exam in Abuja on September this year. Therefore, my full digit number will be 9951020623.

When you are ready with your account bank number, you will need to enter the following spaces:

- The beneficiary bank – Standard Chartered Bank;

- The account name – British Council;

- The full reference name of the candidate. (It`s your personal number from the British Council!) It should look like this: NG233-036251-8721 – George Ibenegbu;

When you complete the transfer process – send the evidence to the official British Council email – ngielts.payment@britishcouncil.org. You will need to send the following attachments;

- Payment Summary Slip;

- Reference Number.

Now you know that the cost of IELTS exam in Nigeria is N68, 000. So all you need to do is follow the instructions above and send the confirmation list to the official email of the British council. After that, you will need to wait for 72 hours for the British Council response.
