The PDP made the accusation on Tuesday August 8, in reaction to reports that security agencies had brutalised some protesters who demanded that President Buhari either resumes work or resigns from office, Punch reports.

Spokesperson for the party, Dayo Adeyeye, called on Nigerians to be at alert, adding that the APC must be cautioned.

He said: “We have said it before and we will continue to say it: The Federal Government is planning to truncate the country’s democracy with its actions.

“There is no freedom of speech, no freedom of expression and no freedom of association. The PDP was in government and allowed protests; we never brutalised any protester.”

Meanwhile, the personal assistant to the president on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, has attacked some Nigerians demanding that the health status of President Muhammdu Buhari be made public.

Onochie in a lengthy statement on Facebook on Wednesday, August 9, described those clamouring for the Buhari to address the nation as ignorant of the provisions of the 1999 constitution.

The aide said some people in public service are private people in that they like to keep their personal lives out of the public domain while others place their personal lives in the public domain for all to see, noting that its an individual choice.

She stated that President Buhari had adhered to the provisions of the constitution by transferring power to his vice to become acting president, noting that it was wrong to compare the Buhari situation with that of late President Yar'Adua.
