Army arrests 2 fleeing Boko Haram terrorists

- Nigerian army has intercepted two fleeing members of Boko Haram

- The terrorists said they escaped from a hideout are Kiri Imoru and Tijjani Goni

The Nigerian army has on Tuesday August 8 arrested two fleeing members of Boko Haram terrorists at Sasawa village.

The terrorists claimed they escaped from a hideout at Futchumaram, Geidam local government area.

The army gave the name of the arrested suspects as Kiri Imoru and Tijjani Goni.

The spokesperson of the army, SK Usman made this known on his Facebook page: "Troops of 233 Battalion, 27 Task Force Brigade, Operation LAFIYA DOLE on Tuesday 8th August 2017, intercepted fleeing Boko Haram terrorists members, Kiri Imoru (left) and Tijjani Goni (right) at Sasawa village. The two terrorists claimed to escape from a hideout at Futchumaram, Geidam local government area."

Meanwhilr, NAIJ.com reported that the Nigerian army says Boko Haram ideology being promoted by insurgents is dead and no longer tenable.

Army spokesperson, General SK Usman states that the terrorists have been abandoned by their leaders.

Usman said: “There is no reason to be suffering or fighting a lost cause. As you are aware, your leaders have abandoned you and could no longer be of any help to you. Therefore you should all surrender to avoid dying like dogs because of the ongoing concerted military clearance operations."
