- PDP leadership battle continues in Osun state
- Sheriff's faction in the state has refused to hand over to Makarfi's faction
The crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came to an end on Wednesday, July 12, after a 14-month long leadership battle but the Osun faction of the party continues to fight.
The chairman of the Ahmed Makarfi-led faction, Bayo Faforiji, was expected to automatically assume the leadership of the party in the state after the Supreme Court ruling but the leader of the Ali Modu sheriff group, Soji Adagunodo has refused to stepped down.
NAIJ.com learnt that Adagunodo insisted that the Supreme Court judgement only affect the warring leaders, Makarfi and Sheriff, and has nothing to do with states parties.

Premum Times reported that Adagunodo insisted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) attended the congress which elected him as the chairman of the party.
However, Makarfi's man, Faforiji, supports his claim to the office with the fact that he belongs to the faction that has been approved by the Supreme Court as the only faction of the party recognised by the law.
During the recent senatorial election that saw Ademola Adeleke emerged as the winner, the two faction of PDP had signed agreement to work together and accept the Supreme Court verdict.

Meanwhile, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, the ousted former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has made a complete turn-around, after initially congratulating Ahmed Makarfi over his victory at the Supreme Court.
Sheriff stated that he was in shock over the ruling, and was waiting to be briefed by his lawyers about the situation.
His new reaction was contained in a statement signed in Abuja on Thursday July 13 by Dr. cairo Ojuogboh, his erstwhile deputy; and Bernard Mikko, his faction’s former spokesperson.
