An appeal filed by the wife of the former president Goodluck Jonathan, on Wednesday, July 12, suffered setback as one of the three-man judges on the case withdrew from the matter.
Patience Jonathan had asked the court to discharge an order of a lower court to seize $5.9 million found in her Skye Bank account.

However, the matter which was expected to be heard toady, July 12, was stalled after one of the judges on the matter withdrew himself from presiding over the case.
At the hearing, the judges led by Justice Ikyeh informed the counsels to both party that the appeal would no longer be heard.
Ikeyh who did not give the name of the judge who withdrew said the judge withdrew from the matter for personal reasons.

He also said the matter will further be adjourned.
Ikeyh said: “One of us is going to recuse himself from this case for personal reasons, so we are not complete. Two of us cannot make a quorum. So, we’ll give you a date."
Meanwhile, counsel for the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) Rotimi Oyedepo prayed the court to fix a new date for during the court's vacation which will last until September.
But in his reply, the lead judge said: “We can’t write anything because we are incomplete. One of us cannot sit over this appeal."

The case was thereafter adjourned till September 18, 2017, after the court’s vacation.

Patience also called on members of the House of Representatives to come to her rescue before operatives of the EFCC kills her.
