Three children have passed away at the Bulabulin Ngaranam Medical Clinic in Maiduguri, Borno state.

According to Vanguard, the parents of the sick children allegedly fed them harmful food like water drawn from gutters and concoctions to give them diarrhea in other to collect benefits donated by UNICEF and other agencies.

“Nearly all medicines may cause diarrhea. However, some of these parents resort to either drawing water from gutters, mixed it with concoctions and forcefully injected into the mouth of their children, which eventually caused the muscles of the intestines to contract, leading to severe diarrhea for the sake of receiving food items and later sale them.”

It was gathered that the number of patients currently at the clinic increased from 300 to over 700 patients on daily basis.
Officer in charge of Ngaranam Medical Clinic, Maryam Baba Gaidam and the village head, Lawan Mala Modu, were devastated by the spike in numbers of the sick in the area.
