PDP urges Nigerians to tolerate one another and pray for leaders in sallah message

- The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has sent Sallah greetings to Nigerians

- Factional chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff, in his message urged Nigerians to pray for peace, unity and tolerance

- The opposition party expressed worry by the growing tension in the country due to agitations

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the Eid-el Fitr celebration to pray for peace, unity and tolerance among Nigerians.

The National Chairman of the party, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, gave the advice in a Sallah statement issued by his acting National Publicity Secretary, Mr Bernard Mikko, on Sunday in Abuja on Sunday.

He said PDP noted was worried by the growing tension in the country due to agitations and youth restiveness occasioned by claims and counter-claims of domination and marginalization by the ethnic nationalities in the country.

“Therefore, as we mark this year’s Sallah celebration, we sue for peace and tolerance as we urge every Nigerian to be committed to the task of nation building.

“Nigerians irrespective of their ethnic and religious affiliations should focus on our similarities rather than differences.

“We are better off a united country; and so we shall we remain,’’ he said.

Sheriff also urged Nigerians to continue to pray for their leaders.

He also told Nigerians to believe that God can guide the country’s leaders and direct the affairs of the country for the benefit of all.

He congratulated Muslims for a successful completion of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitri.

In a previous report by NAIJ.com, Senate President Bukola Saraki has urged Nigerians to keep praying for President Buhari.

Saraki in his Sallah greetings to Nigerians urged for continuous prayers for the president who returned to London for Medical check up on May 7.

Saraki's message reads: "As we celebrate Eid, I urge all Nigerians to continue to pray for the quick recovery of our dear president."
