Senate sends urgent message to security agencies over herdsmen violence

- The Nigerian Senate condemns the criminal activities among cattle herdsmen in the country

- The upper chamber observes a minute silence in honour of 2 victims of herdsmen violence

- Meanwhile, the General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Lagos, Pastor Tunde Bakare, warns that the incessant killings of other Nigerians by Fulani herdsmen could lead to another civil war

The Nigerian Senate has urged the security agencies to apprehend people who disguise as herdsmen and destroy properties in the country.

The Senate also condemned criminal activities among cattle herdsmen in the country.

Members of the upper chamber stated this during plenary on Wednesday, May 31, after Senator Clifford Ordia, representing Edo central, raised a point of order on the assault and killing of 2 women from his constituency by alleged Fulani herdsmen.

Contributing to the issue, Senator Francis Alimikhena representing Edo north said there was need to stop the violence of the Fulani Herdsmen in the country.

The lawmakers then observed a minute silence in honour of the victims and condemned criminal activities among cattle herdsmen.

NAIJ.com recalls that the General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Lagos, Pastor Tunde Bakare issued a stern warning to the authorities in Nigeria.

According to Daily Post, Bakare warned that Nigeria is on the verge of another civil war following the yet-to-be addressed incessant killings of other Nigerians by Fulani herdsmen.

Bakare spoke during his sermon on Sunday, May 38 where he declared that Nigeria “is moving towards another collapse” with the division among different groups and violence in the country.

Bakare's titled “All Things are Ready,” warned that Nigerians might be forced to retaliate against the rampaging herdsmen.
