- CLO says Hon Nwuche is being attacked by forces within the All Progressive Congress in Rivers state
- The group says some persons are hounding Nwuche because he won't be party of their dirty deals
The civil liberties organization has alleged that it has uncovered a plot to arraign Hon Chibudom Nwuche for money laundering.
According to the CLO, some operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), are seeking to arraign Nwuche for awarding a civil contract to Foundation for Youth Development ( FYD).
NAIJ.com gathered that Nwuche is a trustee of the FYD by the Amnesty Programme.
The CLO claims that though FYD has provided copious documentation and videos showing how the N2.6BN paid as mobilization was disbursed in furtherance of the contract and a loan to the Amnesty Office the EFCC IPOs are bent on prosecuting Nwuche.
It is said that the IPOs in question, want Nwuche prosecuted for resisting their attempts to extort him and exposing the illegal sale of his certificates of occupancy which was stolen in a raid at his residence.
Despite being aware that Nwuche's case is in court and that FYD is owed N5.4BN for the provision of a sea time training vessel by the amnesty office, the EFCC operatives have continued to seek means to arraign Nwuche.

It is alleged by the CLO that the IPOs had at the invitation of Hon Nwuche in July 2016 demanded for N100m to close the case.
"They maintained that in spite of his plea of innocence that he was a politician and they could end his career with prosecution whether or not he was eventually freed of the allegations".
In a statement signed by its zonal, Karl Chinedu Uchegbu, the CLO says that "Some monies were paid as advance after which the matter was reported to their bosses and nothing was done".
Sources reveal that the infuriated IPOs who organized a raid of Nwuche's residence on 28th Nov 2016. Over 17 armed men reportedly stormed Nwuche's residence purporting to look for a stash of dollars.
They searched and found no dollars but took away over 10 C of Os and diamond and gold Rolex watch.
The CLO alleges that some of these C of Os later found their way into the market for sale.
The police were alerted and arrested over 8 suspects who mentioned one John Obetan Obi as the source of the C of Os.
Obetan Obi is said to be one of those that joined the IPOs in searching Nwuche's residence even though he is not a staff of either the police or EFCC. He has since been declared wanted by the police.

Obeten was one of those who searched Nwuche's house, though he is not a security operative
The issue of the purported illegal firearms was only raised in April, about 4 months after Nwuche had written a letter of complaint to the EFCC and began to pursue the recovery of the C of Os.
This was also after the senate had raised the issue of the missing documents.
The CLO in its statement, called for thorough investigation by the president as to how state security apparatus are now being used by security operatives for criminality and to intimidate and destroy innocent citizens that resist their extortion.

"We are calling on the National Assembly to investigate these gross abuse of power by the IPOs and their attempt to cover up the criminals that participated in the raid. We hope that the authorities will stop them from harassing Hon Nwuche on behalf of their known political sponsor," stressed the CLO.
In a similar vein, Hon Nwuche has said that he is minding his business and legal practice and studying the political terrain and networking with like minds in the interest of the unity and prosperity of Nigeria.
Reacting to why the south-south is underdeveloped in spite of the huge resources she has received since 1999 from 13% derivation, Nwuche said perhaps some of those at the helm of affairs did not get their priorities right and may not have had clear and focused agenda for the development of the region.
He noted that they may also not have applied the revenues judiciously and may have frittered some of the monies away.
Nwuche said: "That’s not to say that some have not done reasonably well given the constraints of the difficult terrain and the challenges of our political system and the demand of maintaining peace and seeking re-election for such leaders and their myriads of supporters.
The biggest challenge however is that of vision. Leaders must be imbued with vision; open to new ideas, surrounded by thinkers and consultative by nature.
They must also be well prepared for the office and governance and must have spent some time on their manifesto before contesting elections.
If you come into an office with a clear vision and plans for your people, you will hit the ground running as there is a lot to do in every sector.
From human capital development, youth and women empowerment; development of critical infrastructure from roads, jetties, power, water, rural development and agricultural and aqua culture.
You will find that the billions from FAAC will not be sufficient talk less of siphoning any monies.
You must also love your people and have empathy for them and then you will not be able to be corrupt.
In contrast when a man without vision or plans is elected into office and is given billions, he becomes corrupt not because he is wicked or evil, but because the money is too much as he really had no plans on how to deploy it."
