Residents of Abule-Okuta road in the Bariga axis of Lagos state have cried to the state government for help following the dilapidated state of the road.
This comes even as the road has become non-motorable for motorist, at a time when the rain seems to be here again.
In a recent tour around Bariga, Lagos state, NAIJ.com found out that there are some areas in Lagos state are suffering every day due to poor state of roads and the Abule-Okuta road falls under this category.

Some of the people who live in the area said they have waited and prayed for years on the state government to come to their rescue.
Their prayers seemed to have been answered last year when the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s government began road and drainage reconstruction after a visit to the area.
Ambode had reportedly described the state of the road as unacceptable and assuring residents that the road and drainage would get a face lift soon.

Bariga residents live in utmost despair over bad roads
The governor soon after followed his words with action as reconstruction exercise began early last year on the road after years of neglect.
And for the first time, there was a ray of hope for the Bariga residents but this looks short-lived.

When NAIJ.com spoke with one of the Okada riders who simply identified himself as Ifeanyi what he knew about the bad road, he simply said: “We were happy when they began works on this road but we can’t say that now. The road is affecting my Okada business and other businesses here. How long will it take for the road to be accessible again?”
A resident of the area simply named Bolaji, who spoke with our correspondent, noted that the construction, which has been going on for over a year, has made more roads in the streets deplorable.
He said: “The road is so bad and not accessible. There are pot holes in the middle of the road. We urged the Lagos state government to help us complete the road.”
