Fani Kayode blasts Sheikh Gumi for saying only Muslim can end terrorism in Nigeria

- Former minister of Aviation, Fani Kayode has attacked Sheik Gumi over comments on terrorism

- The Kaduna based cleric had said that only Muslims could effectively fight Boko Haram insurgents terrorizing the North-East region of Nigeria

- But Fani Kayode insisted that Christians have suffered genocide in the north since 1966

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani Kayode has condemned Sheikh Ahmad Gumi for saying that only Muslims could end terrorism in Nigeria.

The Kaduna-based Islamic scholar Ahmed Gumi has said that it is only Muslims that can effectively fight Boko Haram insurgents terrorizing the North-East region of Nigeria and the world in general.

While speaking at the graduation Kaduna Centre for Study of Christian-Muslim Relations, Gumi, a renowned Sheikh said there is need for corporation among other faiths and Muslims to end terrorism.

He said it is regretful that many people were ignorant of the true nature of Islam and allowed their ignorance to guard them through their decisions and reactions to issues concerning the religion.

But in his tweet reactions to Sheik Gumi’s comment, Fani Kayode said: "Christians have suffered genocide in the north since 1966. Sheik Gumi should shut up bow his head in shame and stop attacking Christians."

"More Christians have been killed in northern Nigeria than anywhere else in the world in the last 67 years. This is unacceptable.
