Breaking: Pandemonium as cultists clash in Lagos

- Some people were said to be injured when cultists clashed in Lagos

- The clash was said to have started on Sunday April 23

- The casualties are not yet ascertained

There was confusion on Monday morning April 24 at Idioro Mushin area of Lagos when suspected cultists clashed in the area.

The Nation reports that police arrested several people, recovered bags of hard drug and other exhibits.

NAIJ.com gathered that the clash was said to have started on Sunday evening April 23 during which many people were injured.

It is not yet certain is anybody died in the incident.

Another fight is also reported to be on in the Hausa community in Ijegun.

Shops and schools have reportedly been closed as a result of sporadic gunshots.

Meanwhile the Lagos Police Command has said that it has arrested eight persons alleged to be involved in a clash that led to the destruction of property in Idi-Oro, Mushin.

The command Spokesman, Olarinde Famous-Cole, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, on Monday.

Mr Famous-Cole said that the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, had also deployed more police personnel to ensure peace in the area.

He said the suspects, who were arrested in Idi Oro, had machetes and axes in their possession.

“Normalcy has returned to the area and there is a heavy police presence there.

“The public should go about their business. There is a free- flow of traffic in the area now,” Mr Famous-Cole said.

It was learnt that a quarrel which occurred among some residents in Alamutu area of Idi-Oro in Mushin on Sunday degenerated on Monday morning, leading to destruction of property.

The police had to deploy men of the Rapid Response Squad to bring the situation under control.
