BREAKING: Olu Falae's kidnappers sentenced to life in jail

- Sahara Reporters is reporting that kidnappers of former presidential candidate Olu Falae have been sentenced to life in jail.

- In a tweet on Monday, April 10 afternoon, the online media platform reported that the judgment was delivered by a Ondo State High Court

The sentencing comes over a year after Falae was kidnapped by some men believed to be Fulani herdsmen.

NAIJ.com recalls that Falae was abducted on Monday, September 21, at his Ilado farm along Igbatoro Road, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo state.

The abductors of the Afenifere chieftain demanded payment of N100 million ransom for his release.

He was however released days later on 24 September 2015 after paying ransom and returned to his home in Akure.

Meanwhile, Falae, a former secretary to the government of the federation, has revealed that he rejected an opportunity to rule Nigeria in the 1990s.

Falae who ran on the platform of the All Peoples Party as a presidential candidate in the 1999 presidential election, said he was offered the position of head of Interim National Government by former military head of state Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (retd.).

Falae was reacting to comments by a former Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi (retd.) in his new book “Vindication of a General”.

NAIJ.com TV crew recently met with the family of a kidnap victim who narrate the harrowing experience. Watch:
