At least three people are feared dead in clashes between indigenes of some communities in Rivers and Delta states and Fulani herdsmen.

The Guardian reports that two indigenes were reportedly murdered in Omumu community in Ika South Local Council in Delta on Monday, February 27 evening
According to reports from the area, the victims allegedly engaged the suspected cattle breeders in their farmlands after crops worth thousands of naira were destroyed.

An ex-party chairman in the community Joel Obuchi said the situation is a bad omen and urged the state government to look into the problem.
Obuchi said the cattle rearers had wreaked havoc on the community and turned many farms into grazing land. He warned that if urgent steps were not taken by security agents, the activities of the nomads might result in clashes of higher scale between the cattle rearers and their host communities.
The Guardian quoted Delta state Police Commissioner Zanna Ibrahim as saying that his men were on top of the situation and have arrested some people in connection to the crime.
In Rivers state, one person was left dead after a clash between the residents and the cattle rearers in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Council.

It was gathered that the herdsmen had lived peacefully in the communities until lately when their activities began to ruffle feathers.
