Veteran actor gives reason why Nollywood stars aren’t respected

– Nollywood has come a long way since its establishment in the early 90’s

– This year especially has seen immense growth in how things are done in the industry

– But veteran actor Jide Kosoko feels there is a need for practitioners to be disciplined

Nigeria’s film industry Nollywood has had an amazing year. Our films have made it to more international festivals and there has been an increase in the general quality of our productions. Also, actors are doing a better job at their craft. But according to Jide Kosoko, there is still work to be done as regards one thing, Discipline.

The veteran actor feels there has been a great decline in the attitude of Nollywood practitioners when compared to the 1980’s. Kosoko who is a Board of Trustees member of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) revealed this in a recent interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

 “In the 80s the Nollywood practitioners were well disciplined, the public respected them for that attitude, but these days the reverse is the case. We will do all we can to make sure that discipline is being maintained among the members of the association. We need to maintain our integrity because we are public figures,” he said.
