The final stage of the first ever edition of the National ICT Olympiad, was held on Friday, April 29, at the Imperial Hall, Jobi – Fele way, Alausa Lagos state on Friday, April 29.
The National ICT Olympiad is an ICT competition for secondary school pupils which has also been included in the education calendar.
Makinde Emmanuel Olamide from Sacred Heart College emerged as the winner of the competition, while Oluwalana Daniel Tomisin from Chrisland School and Okegbemi Lawrence from Igboowu Senior School were 2nd and 3rd runner ups respectively.
The keynote address of the event was delivered by Henry Balogun the former deputy chief of staff to the governor of Lagos state.

A total of 5,186 JSS and 3,088 SSS students registered and participated in the first stage of the competition across 2,765 schools in Lagos state. Only those who scored a minimum of 72% in the first stage qualified for the boot camp stage.
Students who qualified from the first stage of the competition participated in the boot camp at NIIT training centres – Festac, Ajah, Surulere and Ikeja – where they were exposed to web development using HTML 5 and PHP scripting and Adobe Photo shop, before taking the second stage of the examination – boot camp examination.
The best 10 students from the boot camp examination will proceed to the state finals where they will showcase their skills in several areas of the ICT.
The ten finalists were Awodun Umar Farouq, Digwu Shallom Onyiye, Kuba Genesis, Makinde Emmanuel Olamide, Odunsi Oluwaseun, Okegbemi Lawrence, Okpara Ifeoma, Olaniyi Farouk Olalekan, Oluwalana Daniel Tomisin and Suleiman Nasiru.
