Alicia Vikander is the new Lara Croft

Get over Angelina Jolie, Alicia Vikander is the new Lara Croft.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl) will play Lara Croft in the upcoming "Tomb Raider" reboot.

To be directed by Roar Uthaug and scripted by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, the reboot will be distributed by Warner Bros.

The original Tomb Raider game was published in 1996, and went on to become one of the most successful video games of the time.

 In 2013, a reboot of the series, telling the origin of Lara Croft was released, and sold over five million copies.

"Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" and "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life," were made by Paramount Pictures and starred Angelina Jolie.

The films grossed a combined $432 million at the worldwide box office.

Vikander made her feature film debut in "Pure" (2010), In 2016, she received the Academy Award for her role as Gerda Wegener in "The Danish Girl."
