INEC hints on timetable for Bayelsa, Kogi guber election

- The timetable and schedule of activities for the governorship elections in Bayelsa and Kogi will be released on or before Saturday, April 13

- This was revealed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday, April 7, in Abuja

- INEC, through its national chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, said that the election for both states will come at different dates in 2019

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday, April 7, said it is in the process of publishing the timetable and schedule of activities for governorship elections in Bayelsa and Kogi.

INEC's national boss, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, on Monday, April 7 at its defence of the 2019 budget proposal before a session of the Senate and of House of Representatives committees on electoral matters.

In his break-down of the commission’s 2019 budget proposal of N45.4 billion, Yakubu said: “This year we are going to conduct two end of tenure elections into the offices of the governors in Kogi and Bayelsa states.

“This year towards the end of the year we are going to conduct governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa.

“Let me seize this opportunity here to say before the end of this week INEC will issue a timetable and schedule of activities for the governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that INEC on Tuesday, March 12, announced that it would conduct a supplementary election in the three constituencies that elections were declared inconclusive in Saturday, March 9 state house of assembly election in Bayelsa.

Wilfred Ifogah, INEC's head of department, voter education and publicity, who announced this in Yenagoa, listed the constituencies as Ogbia constituency 11, Brass 1 and Southern-Ijaw IV.
