Sky News reports that the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty helps protect the security of the United States and its allies in Europe and the Far East.

Legit.ng gathers that both countries are prohibited by the treaty from possessing, producing or test-firing a ground-launched cruise missile with a range of 300 to 3,400 miles.

President Trump said: "We are going to terminate the agreement and then we are going to develop the weapons."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Donald Trump announced the United States’ withdrawal from the Obama-era nuclear agreement with Iran.

Calling it "decaying and rotten", President Trump said the deal was "an embarrassment" to him "as a citizen".

Going against advice from European allies, he said he would re-impose economic sanctions that were waived when the deal was signed in 2015.

In response, Iran said it was preparing to restart uranium enrichment, key for making both nuclear energy and weapons.

President Hassan Rouhani of Iran said: "The US has announced that it doesn't respect its commitments.

In an earlier report by Legit.ng, President Donald Trump of the United States and North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un, met in a summit on Tuesday, June 12, at a Singapore island resort.

The leaders shook hands warmly and then moved into a one-on-one meeting that lasted for about 40 minutes.

Prior to the historic summit, the US president said he expected that the meeting would be tremendously successful. He had also said he and Kim might strike a nuclear deal or forge a formal end to the Korean war in the course of a single meeting or over several days.
