Sanwo-Olu was asked what he would do differently after assuming office and he commented on the gridlock caused by tankers, trailers, and heavy duty vehicles in Apapa.
He responded: “The Apapa trailer issue; it’s a campaign issue; it’s very serious; I’m going to take it very seriously.”
He said his government would do something about the issue in his first 60 days, saying his administration would do whatever it takes to solve the problem.
“I believe that it is something that we are going to solve in the first 60 days of our government. Whatever is going to be required of us, we will take them out.
“There is a lot of politics being played around there. But no, it cannot be the way we’ll continue to live. We cannot continue to give excuses,” he said
Sanwo-Olu said his administration would develop the Badagry Port as an alternative entry point to wase movement on Apapa roads.
It should be recalled that the governor-elect in November 2018 said he would consult with expert as a way to end the heavy traffic on major roads within six months.
