Ajax in big trouble as superstar who masterminded Juventus draw suffers hamstring injury

- Frenkie de Jong may be unavailable for Ajax when they face Juventus next Tuesday

- Both sides have scores to settle in the UEFA Champions League after playing 1-1 in the first leg of their quarterfinal tie

- De Jong was substituted in the 28th minute during his Dutch side's weekend game

Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong could miss his side's UEFA Champions League second leg tie against Juventus on Tuesday, April 15, due to injury.

The Barcelona bound youngster featured for his Dutch League side in their 6-2 win over Excelsior this weekend.

Three goals from Klaas-Jun Huntelaar, two from Dusan Tadic and one from Kasper Dolberg ensured coach Erik ten Hag's men cruised to comfortable win.

De Jong appeared to have suffered a hamstring injury as he was escorted into the dressing in the 28th minute of the meeting.

And according to Goal.com, the Dutchman might not be available for his side as they hope to cause an upset when they face off with Juve in the coming week.

Meanwhile, his manager, Erik ten Hag while responding to comments from the media after the game said: "Frenkie's hamstring was playing up and we didn't want to take any risks."

Ajax pulled up an impressive performance when they held Juventus to 1-1 draw in Holland earlier this week in the UEFA organised championship.

De Jong has attracted top European clubs with his performances for club and country in recent times.

The 21-year-old has already sealed a move to join Barcelona at the end of this season in a deal worth €86 million.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Barcelona have completed the signing of Dutch wonderkid Frenkie de Jong with a £65 million deal expected to go through in the summer.

The Netherlands defender has agreed a five year deal with the Spanish champions and will cost the La Liga side an initial 75m euros plus another 11m euros (£9.5m) in variables.

The 21-year-old who can play in any area of the defence has been linked with a number of clubs in Europe including Manchester City, Juventus and Paris St-Germain.
