Mo Salah celebrates retaining African player of the year by dancing awkwardly with the award

- Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah claimed his second African player of the year award on Tuesday in Dakar

- The Egyptian Salah helped the Premier League side reach last year's Champions League final in May

- Salah saw off teammate Sadio Mane and Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to claim the prestigious prize

Mohamed Salah celebrated winning back-to-back African Player of the Year award by dancing awkwardly with a group of dancers, who joined him on stage during the CAF awards night in Dakar, Senegal

According to a UK Daily Mail report, the 26-year-old Liverpool star, who is now the first Egyptian to cart home the continent’s most prestigious individual football honour was all smiles during the ceremony.

Salah has a fantastic performance after helping Liverpool reach to the Champions League final in May 2018.

In addition, the Egyptian was the star act for Liverpool in their quest for the Premier League silverware during the 2017-18 season, netting 32 times in the Premier League and 44 across all competitions.

And has played a huge role for the Jurgen Klopp tutored-side in the current season.

Salah scored twice at the summer World Cup in Russia as Egypt staged a comeback to world’s most glamorous football tournament after 28 years.

Interestingly, the ‘Egyptian Pharaoh’ as he is fondly called by fans and admirer defeated Liverpool teammate, Sadio Mane alongside Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for his consecutive player of the year award.

Salah is also the BBC African Footballer of the Year prize and emetged sixth in the final voting for 2018 Ballon d’Or.

The Egyptian international was also included in the Africa Best XI for 2018 alongside Liverpool pair of Mane and Naby Keita.

Earlier. Legit.ng reported that Egypt international Mohamed Salah was crowned BBC African Footballer of the year award for the second year running.

The 26-year-old continued his impressive performances for his Premier League side this term having scored 13 goals and four assists in all competition for the Anfield side.
