Some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa state have dismissed rumour that a former president, Goodluck Jonathan, is supporting candidates from opposition political parties in his home state.
The party members with the name, Stakeholders and Loyal Members of PDP in Bayelsa, described the accusations against the former president as laughable, Daily Trust reports.
The spokesperson for the group, Kenny Sotonye, on Tuesday, January 8, said there was no way a former president like Jonathan who had occupied the highest office on the platform of the PDP, could support any other party against the PDP.

Sotonye cautioned Governor Henry Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state against trying to blackmail the former president because of the forthcoming elections in the state.
He alleged that associates of the governor were trying to accuse Jonathan of taking part in anti-party activities.
“Dr. Jonathan by virtue of his unwavering and unparalleled commitment to the unity, progress and continued corporate existence of Nigeria even without recourse to his meritorious service to the country up to the highest office in the land, has by his actions earned the stripes of an elder statesman and should be accorded all the respect such standing demands,” Sotonye said.
Legit.ng had earlier reported that Kinsmen of former President Goodluck Jonathan under the auspices of the Ogbia Renaissance (OR) had reportedly accused the former president and his wife, Patience Jonathan, of working against candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa state.
The group, according to The Nation, alleged that Jonathan and his wife were plotting to work against the PDP in a bid to actualise their interests.
Obhioru Mitanoni, the chairman of OR claimed that Jonathan, his wife, A.J Turner are conniving with other PDP leaders to perpetrate anti-party activities ahead of the general elections.
